Mode of Action

Pinoxaden represents a unique new structure of s new chemical class. After uptake, Pinoxaden interferes with the lipid metabolism in plant cells. The herbicide acts by inhibiting the enzyme Acetyl-CoA-Carboxylase, interrupting the synthesis of fatty acids and as a final consequence impacts the formation of biomembranes.

Method of application:

The herbicide is recommended to be applied using a knapsack sprayer fitted with a flat fan or a deflector nozzle. Apply the herbicide with the recommended quantity of water to ensure thorough coverage of the weed foliage.

No specific antidote. Treat symptomatically.

Precautions

  • Do not use utensils for preparing the spray solution. Use stick for stirring the spray solution.
  • Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing. Avoid inhalation of fog and vapours.
  • Wear hand gloves to avoid contact with the skin. Wear protective clothing, mask, goggles, and boots while handling the product.
  • Do not eat, drink or smoke while applying the product.
  • Wash hands with soap and plenty of water and change clothes after the work is over. Avoid contamination of air and water bodies with the herbicide. Also wash the contaminated clothes.
  • The repeated use of any herbicide or herbicide with the same mode of action could lead to selection of resistant weeds. Certain agronomic practises may reduce the likelihood that resistant weeds will arise. In fields where resistant weeds are suspected, integrate strategies that are available to manage such population.
